Description of Operations

As an hourly substitute in the Social Services Department, you will work the hours needed by the department when regular staff are absent. Services are provided around the clock, every day of the year, to people who need support in their daily lives. The Social Services Department operates within the following areas:

  • Home Care – home services.
  • Health and Social Care – elder care.
  • Functional Support – disabilities and mental health.

Job Responsibilities

You will work according to the client’s care plan. Your duties will vary, and you must always provide high-quality care and support based on the individual’s needs.  

Many of our workplaces require staff to have medication administration authorization. You will receive training in both practical and digital aspects of this.

You are required to document entries in the client’s medical record in accordance with the Social Services Act.

You will use the Time Care Pool system, where you manage your own availability for work and receive assignments accordingly.

Qualifications

You must have a genuine interest in working with people. You must be able to provide professional care characterized by empathy and respect for the client. As an hourly substitute, it is important that you are flexible, responsible, and reliable for both clients and regular staff. We value strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude.

We are primarily looking for candidates with training in healthcare and social services or other training that the employer deems equivalent. Alternatively, we welcome applicants with experience working in support, service, healthcare, and social care. You must be at least 18 years old. To perform the job, you must have sufficient spoken and written Swedish skills, as well as strong digital proficiency.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Proficiency in any of these languages is considered an asset when applying for employment with Gällivare Municipality.

Requirements

  • Presentation of identification is mandatory.
  • A valid work and residence permit if you are not an EU citizen.
  • A Class B driver’s license for home care services, rural areas, and certain activities within the Functional Support Department.
  • Presentation of a criminal record check is required for work within the Functional Support Department.
  • To hold the title of nursing assistant, you must present a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare confirming that you are a licensed nursing assistant.
  • Attach your transcripts and a certificate of employment if you have previous experience in healthcare.
  • Provide two references, preferably from a former manager or supervisor.

Work Hours/Duration

Intermittent employment.

Availability at least two days a week is preferred.

There is also the possibility of longer-term temporary assignments on the schedule.

Salary

Hourly wage; we apply individual salary setting as agreed.
