Description of activities

Family counseling is a statutory activity under the Social Services Act but is an independent unit without the exercise of authority and is therefore not included in the other activities conducted within the social services. The family counseling is organizationally under the Social Administration's assistance unit, Children and Youth. Family counseling refers to activities with the aim of contributing to the processing of cohabitation conflicts through therapy conversations, mainly in relationships and families.

In Gällivare municipality, we have a unit with all exercise of authority in the areas of social services. The assistance unit has two heads of unit, one for the children and young people's group and one for the adults' group, and there is also a coordinator for each group. To support us, we also have an outpatient team that works on behalf of the social secretaries via assistance decisions.

Your duties

As a Family Counselor, you meet individuals and couples who want help dealing with difficulties and conflicts - regardless of gender, culture, religion, sexual orientation, age or disability. The day-to-day work is independent and you have your own treatment responsibilities. The primary assignment consists of conversations with couples or partners in relationships where crisis management, conflict management and repairing relationships are common themes. The contact takes place on the citizen's initiative and the conversations are based on a therapeutic basis. The work also includes collaboration with other colleagues in our business as well as collaboration internally and externally.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have academic education with at least a bachelor's degree in social work or psychosocial or therapeutic field of knowledge and professional experience of therapy conversations with partners and / or families in difficult situations and crises. Suitable further education, such as basic psychotherapy training stage 1, training in sexology and gender studies and experience of independent treatment work, is an advantage. Extra meritorious is if you have professional experience of family counseling.
