Working in preschool is exciting, creative, and challenging, and involves close collaboration with colleagues on the team. You’ll have ample opportunities to grow professionally through creative work alongside children and colleagues. The children should be given challenges, support, and stimulation for their development and learning in collaboration with preschool teachers and childcare workers in the department. Mandolinen is located in a quiet residential neighborhood with the forest right outside the fence and within walking distance of downtown Gällivare. The preschool has three departments for children ages 1–5 and the children interact extensively throughout the day in various groups—for example, the 5-year-old group, the 4-year-old group, and even the youngest children are sometimes divided into groups. A year ago, the entire preschool was renovated, and now we have beautiful facilities where new learning environments are taking shape.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a substitute teacher to support the children’s group, and you will be one of the educators in the class, working together with the team to carry out the planned activities.

Qualifications

Certified childcare worker; other education or experience deemed suitable by the employer. Experience working in a preschool is a plus but not required.

This position requires an extract from the Police’s Suspect and Criminal Record Registry, as well as presentation of valid identification.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Proficiency in any of these languages is considered an asset when applying for employment with Gällivare Municipality.

Work Hours/Duration

Full-time (100%), daytime hours. From October 2026 to March 2027, with a high likelihood of extension.
