We have two water treatment plants that operate around the clock to deliver high-quality water, and we are now in the midst of an exciting initiative for the future.

One of our water treatment plants is set to be renovated and upgraded to meet tomorrow’s demands for capacity, safety, and sustainability. This is a major and important project that will secure the water supply for residents for many decades to come.

Description of the workplace:

Gjøvik Municipality has significant and interesting projects in the water and wastewater sector. The municipality has master plans for water supply, wastewater, and the aquatic environment. An action plan to further develop our services toward 2030 has been drawn up. We are looking for someone who wants to help strengthen our team, which is dedicated to ensuring a clean and sustainable local environment for residents, businesses, and future generations.

The Technical Operations service area, VAR Section, is responsible for the operation of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, sludge treatment plants, distribution networks, and discharges into the municipal network from businesses. This division also serves as the pollution control authority for issues including acute pollution, soil contamination, littering, and local air quality.

The new skilled worker will be based at Gjøvik Municipality’s water treatment plants, including associated pumping stations and elevated reservoirs.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Daily operation of the municipality’s water treatment plants
  • Monitoring via the DCS (distributed control system)
  • Monitoring of water treatment processes (coagulation, filtration, disinfection)
  • Adjustment of chemical dosing and process parameters
  • Inspection of tanks, elevated tanks, and pressure zones
  • Internal control
  • Analysis, lab tasks
Qualifications:
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps and mechanical/hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of SD systems and automated processes
  • Class B driver’s license
  • Vocational certificate in chemical processes, process engineering, automation, electrical engineering, or equivalent
  • Practical experience is emphasized
