Some children need a little more

Some families are faced with major care responsibilities that last 24 hours a day, all year round. We're looking for you to be the safe person who gives both the child and the family a break.

A little break can mean everything. Perhaps you're the one who can give it.

Who can be a relief worker?

You don't need any formal education. The most important thing is who you are as a person.

We are looking for you who:

  • are confident and caring
  • have patience and calm
  • are active and engaged
  • keep appointments and take responsibility
  • are good at building trust
  • are stable and can commit for at least one year

Do you have sign language skills? Then we'd love to hear from you.

You must be over 18 years old and provide an approved police certificate.

Hourly relief per week to weekend relief every 4 weeks

Turnus: Afternoons and weekends

Duties:

Duties will vary, but may include:

  • support for personal hygiene and daily routines.
  • practical assistance in everyday life.
  • guidance in social situations.
  • play, activities and coping.
  • close cooperation and good dialogue with the family.
You will receive the necessary training and guidance, both from the municipality and from the family you accompany. What does the role of relief worker entail?Relief work is agreed in close collaboration with the family and the municipality, and can take place:
  • in the family's home.
  • at your home.
  • out at leisure activities and in the local community.
In many cases, respite care takes place at the respite provider's home, and you may need to be able to stay overnight. Assignments can be hourly (day/evening) and 24-hour based. What do you get with us?
  • A meaningful role with great importance for a family.
  • Fixed and predictable assignments.
  • Follow-up from the municipality.
  • Salary and coverage of expenses according to fixed rates in Gjøvik municipality.

What happens when I submit an application?

When we receive your application, you will be contacted by allocation and coordination.

Then this happens:

  • telephone meeting with the case manager at allocation and coordination.
  • You get more information about the role, can ask questions and we get to know each other.
  • we ask for references.
  • meeting with the family.
  • It's important that both you and the family meet to find out if this can be a good collaboration.
