We are organized as a service in the upbringing sector together with schools, kindergartens and children and families. The child welfare service must ensure that children and young people living in conditions that can harm their health and development receive the necessary help, care and protection at the right time. We also operate the Gjøvik inter-municipal child protection service for the municipalities of Gjøvik, Nordre and Søndre Land, Østre and Vestre Toten and Gran, as well as the supervisor scheme for the GLT region.
The Specialized Child Welfare Department is responsible for the child welfare measures that the service offers to parents with children living at home, parents of children living in foster homes, foster parents, children/young people and their networks.
