We are organized as a service in the upbringing sector together with schools, kindergartens and children and families. The service is based in Gjøvik and has meeting rooms in Nordre and Søndre Land municipalities. The service currently consists of around 60 employees.

The child welfare service must ensure that children and young people living in conditions that can harm their health and development receive the necessary help, care and protection at the right time. In addition, the service has good staff and support functions. We also operate the Gjøvik inter-municipal child protection service for the municipalities of Gjøvik, Nordre and Søndre Land, Østre and Vestre Toten and Gran, as well as the supervisor scheme for the GLT region.

The Specialized Child Welfare Department is responsible for the child welfare measures that the service offers to parents with children living at home, parents of children living in foster homes, foster parents, children/young people and their networks. The department also conducts Safe Base and TBOF for foster parents, and participates in various interdisciplinary forums on a monthly basis. The department has a range of expertise in family counseling, such as trauma-sensitive approaches, COS, Marte Meo, family therapy, family counseling, gestalt therapy, cognitive therapy, PMTO and PYC. We work actively to develop measures in line with the needs of our families. The department is made up of 9 family counselors, 1 professional manager and 1 business manager.
