At Nav Gjøvik, we are now looking for a new employee in a 100% permanent position as a financial counselor.

We are looking for you who want to help solve Nav's social mission. Are you motivated by helping others solve their challenges and achieve their goals? Do you have good financial understanding? Then we want you to join our team.

The role of financial counselor involves dialogue and conversations with people in different life situations. The team of financial counselors works with both young people and adults, and is currently located in the department Getting work under 30. In the team there are 10 financial counselors and a team manager.

Nav Gjøvik is located in new modern premises in Parkgata. We are over 100 employees who are organized into 5 departments. The departments work interdisciplinary and holistically based on the needs of each individual user. Tasks:
  • Map and follow up individuals in demanding financial situations
  • Provide advice and guidance based on the individual's needs
  • Provide guidance on budget and personal finances
  • Process applications for financial benefits under the Social Services Act in Nav
  • Apply regulations in guidance and case processing
  • In collaboration with supervisor colleagues, initiate and follow up activities that can help the user get into work or education
  • Answer inquiries on the duty telephone and staff our job centre
  • Interdisciplinary cooperation internally and externally

Qualifications:
  • Education equivalent to bachelor's level, it is desirable with education in social work, labor and welfare, counseling or law. Other education may be considered with relevant experience. Education from abroad must be approved by the Directorate for Higher Education and Competence (formerly NOKUT)
  • Relevant expertise and experience with guidance, user follow-up and case management. If you are a recent graduate with relevant and up-to-date qualifications, this may compensate somewhat for your lack of experience
  • Good financial understanding and interest in the field
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good digital skills and the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with and use new digital solutions
It is desirable that you have:
  • Knowledge of and experience with public administration
  • Knowledge of the labor market and work inclusion
  • Experience in working change-oriented with people
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration
Personal qualities:
  • Robust and confident in dealing with people in crisis situations
  • Independent, structured and has good work capacity
  • Flexible and able to handle unpredictability
