Description of place of work:

Gjøvik municipality has 35 GP positions and has a vacant GP position at Snertingdal health center.

Snertingdal health center has 2 GP positions of which 1 is vacant. The position is currently occupied by a temporary doctor hired from a temp agency.

The doctors moved in January 2026 into brand new and modern premises. From Gjøvik city center to Snertingdal health center it is about 25 km / about 25-30 minutes to drive.

The medical centers are 8.2 medical centers, i.e. Gjøvik municipality operates the medical offices and has employer responsibility for the auxiliary staff.

The medical centers use CGM Journal.

There is no turnover of patient list (Goodwill) associated with the home. Nor do the doctors pay office rent.

Gjøvik municipality strives to adapt the list length to the specialization process for ALIS doctors. The list length is currently 700 patients.

For specialists in general practice/approved general practitioners, self-employment is the main rule.

For doctors in specialization/ALIS doctors, a fixed salary with a share of turnover can be considered as an alternative to self-employment.

Tasks:
  • Practicing as a GP / general practitioner in accordance with legislation.
  • Participation in Gjøvik municipal out-of-hours service.
  • Participation in rotating out-of-hours service for Gjøvik municipality with shift distribution for all the municipality's GPs.
Qualifications:
  • The applicant must be a specialist in general practice, approved general practitioner or education candidate in general practice LIS3 / ALIS.
  • The applicant must be fluent in written and spoken Norwegian, have Norwegian authorization with approval for work in GP practice and emergency care with the right to reimbursement from Helfo.
  • Knowledge of the Norwegian healthcare system and Norwegian healthcare legislation.
  • Emphasis will be placed on professional qualifications, motivation and personal qualities / personal suitability.
  • Two references must be provided. Relevant applicants can expect to be called for an interview.
  • Police certificate must be presented before taking up employment.

Gjøvik municipality can offer:

  • A general practitioner environment with many young doctors in the ALIS course and experienced specialists in general medicine.
  • Good experience and well-established practice in the specialization course with guidance and supervision.
  • The municipality has a separate position for a senior doctor responsible for education.
  • In the case of business operations, a compensation scheme for absence due to children's illness.
Exempt public access must be justified:

Gjøvik municipality practices more public access, cf. Section 11 of the Freedom of Information Act.
