Description of the workplace:

The school service in Gjøvik municipality consists of school administration and 12 primary schools. The schools in Gjøvik shall have skilled and conscious management, high quality and good results.

From the school year 2026-27, the municipality will transition to a department head structure in the primary schools. In this connection, we are advertising the position of head of department at the following schools:

- Vardal ungdomsskole
- Bjørnsveen ungdomsskole
- Fredheim skole
- Biri barneskole
- Blomhaug skole
- Vindingstad skole
- Gjøvik skole

We ask applicants to write in the application text if there are specific schools they are applying for.

Tasks:

  • Deputy head teacher
  • Lead and support the school's educational development work in collaboration with the school's management team and development group
  • Follow up pupils, learning environment and special educational work
  • Have personnel responsibility, including performance appraisals, follow-up and supervision of employees in their own department.
  • Develop good cooperation with parents and external partners
  • Ensure good HSE routines and contribute to a safe and inclusive working environment
  • Other educational and administrative tasks are discussed and distributed according to competence and needs
  • Some teaching must be expected

Qualifications:

  • Requirement of approved teacher education with experience from the school system
  • Experience from school management and preferably leadership training
  • Experience from educational development work and/or development projects
  • Good knowledge of laws and agreements
  • Personal suitability will be particularly emphasized

Personal qualities:

  • Collective leadership skills with the ability to build a common culture
  • Development and change-oriented
  • Good collaboration skills and ability to build trust
  • Good mood and relational and clear leadership
  • Independent, goal-oriented and systematic

Requirement for approved police certificate
