Description of the workplace:

The Biri Care Center was built in 2021 and is a beautiful building equipped with modern technology. Biri Care Center includes a nursing home, a shared living community, specialized services, standard home care services, a day center, and a café. With its rural location, the center’s beautiful café and surrounding area are designed to cater to residents, staff, and visitors. The care center is centrally located between Gjøvik, Lillehammer, and Hamar.

The care center includes a nursing home with 16 long-term care beds, two shared living communities—each with 16 beds—for people with dementia, 10 assisted living apartments, as well as a home care unit for residents living at home with mailing addresses in Biri and Biristrand.

The building is equipped with modern technology designed to enable staff to tailor services to each individual patient. We utilize assistive technology for eligible residents at the care center and for clients served by the home care service. We are looking for healthcare professionals who are interested in how assistive technology can be beneficial and help us work more efficiently.  We strive to create a collaborative environment where we work together to find solutions that best serve our service users.

The home care service consists of a large team of nurses, healthcare workers, and assistants, and we have a positive work environment. The department provides health care and practical assistance to people living at home in accordance with the Act on Health and Care Services in the Municipality, based on individual assessments for users of all ages.

Patient safety is a key focus area. We strengthen our expertise and facilitate users’ ability to live at home for as long as possible.

Shifts during the day and evening, with work every third weekend.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality and appropriate health care and practical assistance in accordance with the user’s individual decision and the service area’s governing documents.
  • Documentation in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Safeguard users’ needs and rights in collaboration with the user and their family. 
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration among different professional groups internally, across departments, and with other partners.
  • Actively work to ensure patient safety.
  • Contribute to professional development and continuous improvement efforts within the department.
  • Share responsibility for training and mentoring users, family members, colleagues, and students/apprentices/trainees. 
  • Serve as the primary contact for a select group of patients.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and positive work environment.
  • Be responsible for specific tasks in the department as agreed upon. 

Qualifications:

  • License as a healthcare worker.
  • Relevant practical experience from outpatient services is emphasized.
  • Documentation in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Ability to adapt, collaborate, think innovatively, and be flexible is emphasized. 
  • We seek a positive attitude, professional competence, and a high work capacity.
  • Personal suitability, commitment, and a solution-oriented approach are highly valued. 
  • Strong communication skills in Norwegian, both written and oral.
  • Valid driver’s license for passenger vehicles.
  • A valid police clearance certificate is required.
