Description of the workplace:

Gjøvik Municipality has organized health and care services for young people with various disabilities and support needs through specialized services.These specialized services encompass a wide range of services for various user groups and are supported by strong professional expertise with an interdisciplinary approach in both management and the staff. 

The position is part of a facility in the southern part of town that provides services to people with various disabilities who live in a 24-hour staffed residence. Services provided include practical assistance/training and support for various needs related to daily living skills, activities, chores, and health care.

We are looking for a dedicated and motivated healthcare worker who is passionate about making a difference for people with various disabilities. 

The facility consists of two residences with round-the-clock staffing and is beautifully located in a cozy residential neighborhood, just a short walk from many hiking trails that are frequently used.

Shift Schedule: Day, evening, and every third weekend. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Varied responsibilities including practical assistance, training, guidance, and health care. 
• Assist with activities and tasks that contribute to an active and fulfilling daily life, with a focus on self-determination, habilitation, and mastery.
• Ensure resident participation and self-determination
• Targeted environmental support. 
• Collaboration with family members.
• Collaboration with colleagues.
• Documentation in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.  

Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a healthcare assistant; candidates with other relevant vocational training may also be considered. 
• Knowledge and experience with goal-oriented environmental work, Chapter 9 of the Health and Care Services Act, and relevant experience working with this user group are a plus, but training will be provided. 
• You must have a good command of Norwegian, both spoken and written.
• Good collaboration skills; in addition, you must be able to work well independently.
• You have a strong ability to build trust and a sense of security. 
• You are adaptable to work tasks and changes.
• You are eager to take initiative and foster engagement regarding residents, professional development, and a positive work environment.
• Personal suitability is highly valued.
• A valid police clearance and a Class B driver’s license are required.
