Description of the workplace:

Gjøvik Intermunicipal Emergency Medical Service (GIL) is an intermunicipal emergency medical service for the municipalities of Gjøvik, Østre Toten, Vestre Toten, Søndre Land, Nordre Land, Lunner, and Gran, with Gjøvik Municipality serving as the host municipality. The emergency medical service operates 24 hours a day, but sees patients from 3:00 PM to 8:00 AM on weekdays, and around the clock on weekends and holidays. In addition, the emergency medical service provides daytime on-call coverage for Gjøvik Municipality on weekdays between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. The emergency medical service maintains a high professional standard and places a strong emphasis on professional development. The positions involve weekend work with the possibility of extra shifts on weekdays in a 3-shift rotation. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Receive, triage, observe, and take relevant measurements and samples from patients

• Staff the reception window to assess and triage patients who come directly to the emergency clinic

• Receive ambulances and police

• Assist the physician and perform necessary tests as ordered by the physician

• Maintain an overview of all patients in the department and keep the department tidy

• The on-duty supervisor is responsible for ensuring a smooth patient flow

• Document in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines
  

Qualifications:

• Second-year nursing students. First-year students with experience in the healthcare system may be considered

• Personal suitability

• Experience from an emergency medicine department, urgent care, inpatient ward, or municipal health services is desirable

• Nødnett proficiency is desirable

• Experience using common ICT tools, the CGM Journal system, and medical index/colleague consultation is desirable

• Experience with laboratory work

• Ability to work in a team

• Must be fluent in written and spoken Norwegian, as well as spoken English

• Approved police background check required
