On-call substitute for switchboard/service desk
Gjøvik, Norge
Type of Employment Part-time
Work model On location
Application due date 22 June 2026
Are you the one?

Both Vestre Toten and Gjøvik municipalities regularly need a temporary employee for their service centers/switchboards.

We are therefore hoping to reach you if you are interested in working at two different town halls. You will receive an employment contract from each municipality.

In many ways, the service center is the heart of the town hall. It is where residents, visitors to our municipalities, and—not least—employees both inside and outside the town hall come.

What are we looking for?

First and foremost, you must enjoy meeting and talking with people. It’s great if you’re a bit curious so you can ask questions and figure out what they actually need help with. Empathy is important in a job like this—both in face-to-face meetings and on the phone. You must understand the person you’re talking to and grasp what the challenge might be.

We’d like someone with some experience in the service industry.

Being cheerful and outgoing is a must.

It’s important that you can guide people through various tasks so they might be able to handle the task all on their own next time. That is why we are looking for someone with a good understanding of digital tools.

As an on-call substitute, it is important that you are flexible—sometimes you may be called in on short notice, other times we are a bit more predictable.

Some practical information

In Gjøvik, the town hall is in the center of town. The town hall in Vestre Toten is located in Raufoss. There are good public transportation options to these areas.

Our two municipalities have slightly different opening hours. In Gjøvik, the opening hours for the service center and the switchboard are the same, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Vestre Toten’s switchboard opens one hour earlier. Opening hours are subject to change.

If this sounds interesting, feel free to call, and we’ll have a chat.

Exceptions to public access must be justified:

Gjøvik Municipality practices greater transparency, cf. the Public Administration Act § 11.
