Description of the workplace:

Sørbyen Home Care is located at the Sørbyen Care Center. The unit provides home care services to residents living at home in the southern part of Gjøvik Municipality and in assisted living units at the care center. The unit consists of approximately 26 full-time equivalents and serves a highly diverse group of service recipients, which requires continuously evolving expertise.

The position is organized under the Home and Short-Term Care Services division, which comprises a total of 11 units.

Job Responsibilities:

The Unit Manager has overall professional and managerial responsibility for their unit and must act in accordance with Gjøvik Municipality’s management principles.

  • Personnel and employer responsibilities for the unit, to be carried out in accordance with adopted goals and guidelines
  • Financial, budgetary, and operational responsibility in accordance with the framework set forth in the applicable financial regulations
  • Responsibility for effective organization and a positive work environment in collaboration with employees
  • Ensure that employees maintain up-to-date professional skills and that services are aligned with societal developments
  • Ensure high-quality work with a focus on comprehensive services, coordination, and collaboration for the benefit of service recipients and service providers
  • Facilitate user participation and collaboration with family members
  • Ensure that documentation is carried out in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Contribute to the development of home-based services in line with the municipality’s development plans
  • Take responsibility for personal development and innovation within the profession and in the workplace
  • Contribute to the management team for the municipality’s home care and short-term care services
  • Be responsible for health, safety, and the environment (HSE) and labor-management cooperation within the organization in accordance with Gjøvik Municipality’s overall HSE action plan
  • Participate in the local management team at the care center.
Qualifications:
  • 3-year college or university degree in health sciences
  • Advanced training in management or a willingness to pursue such training
  • Knowledge and experience with mobile home care services
  • Insight into the operation and management of shift work
  • Experience in finance and budgeting
  • Experience organizing, planning, and structuring work tasks and processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong digital skills and knowledge of assistive technology
  • Knowledge of lawsand collective bargaining agreements governing the workplace, in close cooperation with employee representatives
  • Valid criminal background check required
