Job Description:
The PPT and Speech-Language Pathology Services in Gjøvik have a full-time (100%) temporary position available as a PPT counselor for the 2026/2027 school year. The duties are related to schools.
The PPT and speech-language pathology services in Gjøvik Municipality are organized under the Child and Youth Services sector and are part of the Children and Family Services division. The Children and Family division consists of the PPT, health clinic services, youth health and coping, shared housing and inclusion, and the municipal psychologist. The PPT aims to help ensure that children and young people have good educational and developmental opportunities. The PPT serves as the municipality’s expert body under the Kindergarten Act and the Education Act. The PPT is also responsible for assisting kindergartens and schools in their efforts toward professional and organizational development. The PPT and the speech-language pathology service have a combined total of 15 full-time equivalents.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist schools and preschools in their preventive efforts to provide an inclusive educational program for students who may require accommodations in their education.
- Assist with professional and organizational development in schools and preschools to ensure that educational programs are as inclusive and well-adapted as possible.
- Individualized support, assessments, and expert evaluations in preschools, elementary schools, and adult education.
- Guidance at the individual and systemic levels.
- Facilitating effective interdisciplinary collaboration with preschools, schools, and other support services in the municipality, as well as second-line services.
Qualifications:
- Preferably a master’s degree in special education/education, psychology, speech-language pathology, or equivalent.
- Other educational backgrounds may be considered in combination with relevant experience.
- Assessment skills (ability tests such as the Wechsler Battery, language, math, reading, and writing assessments).
- Guidance skills and experience.
- Proficiency in Norwegian, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Since you will be expected to work at various locations within the municipality, you should have a Class B driver’s license.
- Sufficient digital skills to use the municipality’s computer systems effectively.
