Description of the assignment:

The child welfare service in Gjøvik and Land is looking for safe, stable and caring visiting homes, leisure contacts and dormitory families for children and young people, who can contribute with security, accessibility, a good framework and safe adults.

Gjøvik and Land child welfare service is an inter-municipal service responsible for child welfare in Gjøvik, Nordre Land and Søndre Land. The service is organized under the upbringing sector and has an office in Gjøvik.

The child welfare service must ensure that children and young people who live in conditions that can harm their health and development receive the right help, care and protection at the right time. A visiting home, leisure time contact or a dormitory family is a voluntary assistance measure that the parents and child/young person agree to. This is a meaningful contribution to the lives of children and young people.

We are looking for you as:
  • Have a warm, a warm, stable and inclusive home (visiting home and dormitory family)
  • Have warmth and care
  • Can offer predictability and a good framework
  • Have the time and energy to receive and follow up a child/youth in a visiting home or dormitory family
  • Have time to accompany children/young people on leisure activities
  • Preferably have experience of working with or caring for children/young people (not a requirement)
  • Can work well with the child welfare service
  • Want to make a difference for children and young people.
  • Driver's license required
  • Approved police certificate
Visiting home:
  • A visiting home is a private home that accepts a child or young person on a regular basis to provide support for the child and/or relief for the parents.
  • A visiting home is a permanent employment contract
  • The scope and duration of the assignment varies depending on the needs of the family/child. It can be on an hourly basis, 24-hour stays on weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Regular stays in the visiting home according to an agreed plan
  • Reimbursement and coverage of expenses according to current rates
  • You will receive follow-up from a contact person in Gjøvik and Land child welfare service as well as guidance when needed
  • Start-up by appointment
Leisure contact:
  • A leisure contact is a contractor with an assignment agreement
  • The scope, duration and content of the assignment varies according to the needs of the child/youth.
  • A leisure contact can, for example:
    • be with the user on activities such as cinema, trips, exercise, swimming or hobbies
    • help introduce the user to new leisure activities
    • provide support in social interaction and community
    • help build routines and positive experiences in leisure
    • be a safe adult or peer to do things with

        • Right now we need a dormitory family for a 17-year-old girl. She is a nice and independent young person who needs a stable home environment with adults who can provide support, structure and some follow-up in everyday life.

      Exemption from public access must be justified:

      Gjøvik municipality practices greater public access, cf. Section 11 of the Freedom of Information Act (offentleglova). All applicants will therefore be included on the public list of applicants. In order to be granted an exemption from public access, there must be special circumstances, cf. Section 25 of the Freedom of Information Act.
