Gjøvik Municipality is seeking a dedicated and articulate preschool director for Kråkjordet Preschool who wants to help create safe, inclusive, and nurturing preschool environments for children, staff, and parents. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Kråkjordet Preschool is centrally located in Gjøvik, close to both downtown and NTNU. The preschool has three departments and offers an inclusive, play-based learning environment where secure relationships and children’s participation are central.

As director, you will have overall responsibility for the educational, administrative, and personnel management of the preschool.

We are looking for someone who can combine warmth and interpersonal skills with strong professional and strategic leadership. 

Job Responsibilities:

Lead and further develop the preschool in accordance with legislation, the national curriculum, and municipal guidelines

• Responsibility for personnel, finances, and budgeting
• Ensure high educational quality and a safe and nurturing environment for children and staff
• Collaborate with parents, the municipality, and relevant professional communities
• Actively contribute to the daycare center directors’ network and development initiatives
• Responsible for health, safety, and the environment (HSE) and labor-management cooperation within the organization in accordance with Gjøvik Municipality’s overarching HSE action plan

Qualifications:

• Early childhood education degree
• Management experience in a preschool
• Management training is desirable
• Strong digital skills and financial acumen
• Strong written and oral communication skills in Norwegian
• Valid police clearance certificate required
