Haugtun Care Center is Gjøvik’s answer to a health center, and here you’ll find, among other things, a palliative care unit, a rehabilitation unit, a somatic short-term care ward, municipal acute care beds, respite care, rotating care, and short-term care beds. The care center has its own skilled physicians, and there is good nursing and professional staff coverage on-site.
This job posting is for an 80% permanent position in Nursing Home Unit 2CD at Haugtun Care Center (with the possibility of expanding the position in the future).
The unit, which is a short-term care unit, is currently undergoing exciting changes as it transitions from being a sheltered long-term care unit to a short-term care unit, where there will be a need for a new nurse. This nurse, together with the rest of the staff, will help shape and lead the unit through this process. The unit serves a wide range of patients with diverse challenges and needs.
We are looking for a nurse who is innovative, dedicated, and eager to help shape the direction of a unit undergoing change.
You must have strong clinical skills and good collaboration skills; experience in short-term care units will be a major advantage, allowing us to benefit from any relevant experience you may have.
We recognize that the focus on task shifting will be a highly relevant topic going forward, and we are currently working on a project in collaboration with NAV to test certain practical tasks that can be performed by unskilled staff. This will also provide nurses and healthcare workers with greater opportunities to focus on patients and their professional duties.
The department operates on a two-shift rotation and has been trialing new work schedules for nearly three years, including voluntary long shifts on weekends with work every fourth weekend.
It is also a department with a positive work environment, a high level of expertise, and a focus on professional practice and development. In this context, the department has, among other things, piloted the use of VR headsets for training purposes on topics such as first aid, CPR, violence, and threats. The department focuses on courses and training, including both in-person courses and e-learning courses.
The department has also adopted a significant amount of new assistive technology and is currently implementing the use of “night owls” and other alert devices that are integrated with our wireless nurse call system.
In our experience, new employees enjoy working here and tend to stay, and interns who have completed their practical training in the department often return to take their certification exam with us. Students who have completed internships with us provide positive feedback on their time here and often extend their stay by becoming on-call substitutes afterward.
We aim to build a collaborative professional environment focused on helping each other succeed.
We look forward to receiving your application, and please feel free to apply even if you can start somewhat later than the stated start date.
