About us:

H2 Green Steel aims to change the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the ultimate goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal, water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel per year in our fully integrated, digitized and sustainable facility in Boden in northern Sweden - which is currently under construction.

Automation engineer

H2 Green Steel offers an exciting opportunity for you as an Automation Engineer to be part of building Europe's first green steel mill. As a key person in production in Boden, you will contribute to design and technology for automation systems in our Steel Mill. We are looking for you who has extensive experience in running large, innovative and challenging automation projects. Your experience should demonstrate successful implementation of advanced automation systems in relevant industries.

We are looking for automation engineers for the following areas: EAF, Caster, Hot mill, Cold Mill and Galv line.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Responsible for server computers, configuration of modeling and reference distribution systems, data management systems, communication systems and other control electronics.
  • Work directly with all maintenance and operations personnel in a fast-paced environment to help develop a safety-focused and productive team.
  • Train others in the automation systems.
  • Support operations and collaborate with the quality/IT departments to achieve production targets.
  • Support colleagues in other areas to maintain a reliable automation system throughout the facility.
  • Manage the design, development, implementation and procurement of hardware and/or software within automation improvement projects, as well as provide support in other projects.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated security focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a production environment
  • Quality and detail oriented with superior problem solving and communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-motivated, practically oriented and willing to go the extra mile
  • Significant experience of automation in the production industry
  • Experience in server and network configuration and maintenance
  • Experience with PLC programming (preferably Siemens), data collection/analysis and HMI programming
  • Programming experience with knowledge in C++, C#, Java, database management, Visual Studio, system administration, TCP/IP communication
  • Familiar with SMS equipment
  • Experience with start-ups and/or green field.
