Hamar, Norge
Type of Employment Part-time
Job position Nurse - Night Shift
Work model On location
Application due date 2 August 2026
Are you the one?

When the city sleeps, we stay awake. When the house grows quiet and the clocks tick more softly, there is someone listening to the darkness.
Someone who is there—when a glass of water is needed, a hand must be held, a breath must be calmed.

We are looking for a nurse for a permanent 61% night shift position — a reliable, attentive colleague who sees people, even when the world is quiet.

With us, the night is both a profession and a calling. You’ll apply your expertise where it’s needed most, in small spaces that make a big difference. Here, quality and safety aren’t just slogans,
but a presence. Assessments. Documentation that tells the story accurately. And a gaze that captures nuances in subdued light.

At Prestrudsenteret, you’ll find an environment that takes person-centered care seriously—and a team that supports one another. Ward 1 is a somatic long-term care ward
with 28 beds, and a full-time nursing home physician whose duties are shared between two long-term care wards. Here, the work environment is inclusive, our colleagues are proud and professionally competent—
and our patients are always people first.

At Health and Well-being in Hamar Municipality, we work to promote well-being and security in practice. Our staff is our most important resource. That little extra? It happens in everyday life,
between conversations, check-ups, and heartwarming routines.

Salary and Opportunities
A dedicated pay scale for nurses offering NOK 35,000 above the guaranteed salary under the main collective bargaining agreement.
If you move to Hamar for this position, you can apply for a starter loan and receive up to 100% financing for a home purchase—with no down payment required. (See “What We Offer” for more information.)

Is this your next chapter?
If you want to work in a place where the night is meaningful, where professionalism meets warmth, and where you go home at daybreak
knowing that you made a difference—then we’d love to hear from you.

You provide a sense of security throughout the night:

You’re the one who ensures that the night is safe. You provide healthcare that adheres to both the law and your professional judgment—and document what happens.

You work closely with the rest of the night team and other professionals, and you’re the one who makes the medical assessments when issues arise. You handle medications with a steady hand and follow clear procedures

You collaborate with colleagues, healthcare staff, and family members when needed, and you are the calm presence that allows patients to sleep safely through the night.

Qualifications—these are the strengths you bring to the night shift

  • You hold a Norwegian nursing license
  • Experience in geriatrics and/or psychiatry is a major advantage.
  • You handle IT tools without any drama
  • You have a good command of Norwegian, both written and spoken
  • You have a valid work and residence permit and have passed the Norwegian language test at the B2 level

In short: you have the expertise, composure, and language skills to be a source of reassurance in the dark—and the professional our team needs.

Personal qualities—this is you at your best

You see solutions where others get stuck, and contribute positively to both the professional and work environments. You collaborate well, but work just as confidently on your own, using flexibility and a sense of responsibility as your natural tools.

You communicate clearly, build strong relationships, and are a professional driving force that colleagues and students can rely on. Structure, organization, and dedication describe you well—and you approach each day with positivity and a professional demeanor.

You contribute to a healthy psychosocial work environment—because you know that good care starts with a good culture. You bring motivation, professional dedication, and good health—both physical and mental—which enable you to be fully present when it matters most.

Ultimately, personal fit is crucial —and we’re looking for exactly the kind of person who makes both patients and colleagues feel a little safer when you’re on the job.

We offer

With us, you’ll receive a salary in accordance with national and local agreements, and you’ll become part of a large and diverse professional community where tasks vary and no two days are alike. You’ll have friendly, skilled colleagues who actually make it a pleasure to come to work—and professional and staff meetings built into your schedule, so you’re always in the loop.

We provide thorough training and guidance to ensure you have a smooth start and ongoing professional development.

And for those of you who want to put down roots in Hamar: the municipality offers starter loans to registered nurses and social care workers in at least a 50% permanent position—or to those who accept such a position. The starter loan can cover 100% of the home purchase, with no down payment required, as long as you are creditworthy and cannot obtain a loan from a regular bank.
