As a private relief worker, you give families the opportunity to get a break from a challenging everyday life, while making a positive difference in someone's life. You can combine the role with another job.

Work tasks

  • Provide care and support to the child/family, so that the caregivers get time off and rest.
  • Work hours are agreed with the family - often afternoons, weekends or 24-hour respite.
  • Relief can take place in your home or the family's home.
  • Activities are adapted to the child's/family's needs - you take the initiative for good activities.
  • If you provide overnight relief, you must have an extra bedroom available.

Requirements for the role

  • You must be over 18 years of age
  • No formal education requirements - personal suitability is essential.
  • Driver's license class B is required.
  • Everyone in the household over the age of 18 must present a valid police certificate.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills.

  • Ability to build good relationships based on security and trust.
  • Flexibility in meeting the needs of the child and the family.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Independent and responsible - the family entrusts the most precious thing they have to you
