Utekontakten in Hamar is part of the preventive youth work program in the municipality of Hamar and is located alongside the Høbben youth center in downtown Hamar.
Utekontakten in Hamar has an opening for a full-time (100%) temporary position as an environmental therapist. One of our outreach field workers is going on maternity leave, and we are looking for a temporary replacement who can start with us on November 9, 2026.
Utekontakten is a low-threshold service that provides outreach social work for young people aged 13–25. Utekontakten aims to be a visible adult presence in the environments where young people spend their time and to provide help, support, and guidance to at-risk youth. The team is accessible and flexible. The goal is to establish contact with young people at an early stage and to implement measures in collaboration with parents or guardians and the municipality’s other support services.
The working methods include outreach social work, individual follow-up, and referring young people to the municipality’s other support services. The team works in shifts covering day, evening, and weekend hours.
Utekontakten consists of 4 full-time positions. The Outreach Team aims to help young people in Hamar experience a safe and positive adolescence.
Job Responsibilities
Establish contact and build working relationships with at-risk youth through outreach social work.
Early identification of support needs and ensuring access to necessary support and treatment services in collaboration with the individual young person.
Follow-up, support sessions, and guidance for individual young people and parents.
Substance abuse follow-up for youth in the municipality’s preventive substance abuse team
Work at the individual, group, and system/community levels.
Through systematic fieldwork and assessments, knowledge is gathered about the target groups’ living conditions and life situations, and relevant measures can be proposed and implemented.
Information outreach to young people, parents, and partners.
Documentation and record-keeping
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social and health sciences or a relevant educational degree. Applicants with other relevant bachelor’s degrees, combined with particularly relevant experience and personal qualities, may be considered.
Experience working with children and youth is desirable.
Good knowledge of the public support system is desirable
Good knowledge of contemporary youth culture/recent experience (social media and youth internet use)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A satisfactory police background check is required and must be submitted upon hiring.
Class B driver’s license
