Are you the one?

Do you have room for a wonderful 12-year-old boy about every third weekend?

“Jakob” needs a family with a warm heart and the time to give him care, security, and wonderful experiences. “Jakob” is an active, positive boy who loves soccer. He enjoys being around others and needs practice participating in activities with other children and being away from his mom.

“Jakob” lives primarily with his mom, who needs some respite for a while. The desired frequency at this time is approximately every third weekend, but the need may decrease over time.

Responsibilities

Child Welfare Services is looking for a family that can serve as an additional resource for “Jakob” and provide both a calm, everyday routine as well as experiences and activities. You must have access to your own car, as driving and pick-ups are expected as part of the assignment.

The host family must cooperate with the Child Welfare Services and write brief quarterly reports related to the assignment.

Qualifications

There are no formal education requirements, but personal suitability and commitment are essential. You must love children and be able to grow to love other people’s children.

It is a great advantage if you have children of your own who are around the same age. Approval, if granted, will be based on a home visit, and if you are assigned a case by us, you must submit a police clearance certificate.

“Jakob” has experienced several relationship breakdowns, so we are looking for a host family that has the time and opportunity to take on this assignment for an extended period, as he will form a bond with you.

Personal Qualities

We’d like to hear from you if you:

* are wise, warm, and generous adults
* have energy to spare in your daily life
* get energy and fulfillment from spending time with others
* are good at offering praise and encouragement
* believe it is worthwhile to spend time helping others
* enjoy coming up with different activities

We Offer

The Child Welfare Service offers:

  • A meaningful assignment
  • Salary, mileage allowance, and reimbursement of expenses according to current rates
  • Guidance from the Child Welfare Services as needed
