About the position

The Faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy, Department of Pedagogy in Lillehammer has a vacancy for a 100% position as Associate Professor of Pedagogy

We are looking for a researcher and teacher who wants to contribute to critical and innovative knowledge development about education, learning and formation - in an environment where professional immersion and academic freedom are central.

We are looking for an employee who will work with teaching, supervision and grading, study planning and course responsibility as well as research tasks. You will be part of a good academic community with a strong commitment to quality, and contribute to the development of a good working and learning environment. As a permanent employee, you are expected to be linked to national and international research networks.

We are particularly looking for those with an interest and ability to contribute to developing the department's study portfolio in the areas of education, philosophy of science and media pedagogy.

The Department of Education currently has approximately 31 full-time equivalents with professional staff. The employees cover a number of subject areas that are oriented towards educational knowledge such as educational history, educational sociology, educational philosophy, educational policy development, educational psychology, media pedagogy, special education, counseling and guidance, as well as educational management.

The department has a wide-ranging study portfolio in pedagogy and special education with annual studies, bachelor's and master's programs in addition to further education.

The academic environment is characterized by high research activity and has a good academic community with great commitment to quality, and where you are expected to contribute to the development of a good working and learning environment. The department is located in Lillehammer and the positions will have a daily workplace at the campus in Lillehammer.


Responsibilities and duties

  • Teaching, supervision and assessment tasks related to the year program, the bachelor's programs in pedagogy and master's in pedagogy.
  • Topic responsibility in the educational programs and other academic-administrative work
  • Externally funded assignments
  • Active participation in the development of the department's and the faculty's study and research profile
  • Research and development work

Other tasks can be added to the position as needed.


Qualifications

Formal qualifications:

  • You must qualify for the position as associate professor in education in accordance with the requirements stated in regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act, and have education at doctoral level in pedagogy, special education or educational science.
  • Emphasis is placed on knowledge of and experience in using student-active forms of learning and assessment in relevant subject areas.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian/Scandinavian and English.
  • Satisfactory digital competence related to student-related work and current research and development work.

Experience competence:

  • Teaching experience from the higher education sector is desirable, and preferably experience with young people who are new to the student role
  • Good knowledge of the higher education sector
  • Experience from research and development work in education or other relevant social science disciplines
  • The applicant must be able to show progression in research and publication and be able to present future research and publication plans
  • It is desirable that the person hired has competence, interest and suitability to contribute to the development of the department's study portfolio, especially in the areas of education, philosophy of science and pedagogical use of technology in learning

Pedagogical competence:
Documented practical pedagogical education and experience from teaching and supervision at university and university college level, cf. Regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act. . Applicants who are unable to document pedagogical competence at the time of appointment are obliged to complete the university's course in pedagogy or equivalent within two years of appointment.

The assessment of which candidate is best qualified is based on an overall assessment of education, experience and personal suitability and other qualification requirements as formulated in the advertisement, in addition to motivation for the position.

The position and duties must be carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for government employees, including the Act on Control of Exports of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology, etc. Candidates who, after assessment of the application and attachments, come into conflict with the criteria in the latter Act, may not take up the position.
