About the position

The Department of Psychology is one of five departments at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences - Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences and has an engaging and dynamic academic environment with approximately 450 students and around 30 employees. The department is located at the Lillehammer campus. We currently offer a Bachelor's degree in psychology and a Master's degree in environmental psychology, as well as some courses in organizational psychology in other study programs.

With us you will find an active research environment with specialized research groups in environmental psychology, developmental and clinical psychology, as well as social psychology, work and organizational psychology. We have strong ambitions to further develop psychology as a discipline through practice-oriented teaching and research. In addition, we are now in an exciting development phase with the goal of establishing a professional study program in psychology.

We are now looking for a committed and skilled person for a position with a main focus on teaching psychology. The position aims to ensure high quality education and a good learning environment for students. The employee will have a central role in the development, planning and implementation of teaching.

The position is permanent, 100%, with the main place of work in Lillehammer.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Plan and implement teaching on the bachelor's program in psychology, as well as supervision of bachelor's theses.
  • Teaching on the master's program in environmental psychology may also be relevant, depending on the needs of the department.
  • Take responsibility for courses and exams, as well as participate in grading, supervision, student contact and study administration.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching and academic content in line with current curricula and educational quality work to ensure that the education is updated and relevant.
  • Use relevant digital learning and evaluation tools such as Canvas, Inspera and Zoom in teaching, assessment and communication with students to promote an effective learning environment.

    Qualifications

    Formal qualifications:

    • You must qualify for the position of senior lecturer or senior lecturer in psychology, according to the requirements stated in regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act.
    • You must have good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian/Scandinavian and English. Norwegian language skills of at least level B2 are required for employment, in accordance with the Regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act.

    Experience competence:

    It is desirable with

    • competence in the fields of environmental psychology, clinical psychology and/or psychological research methods.
    • experience with course and exam responsibility, as well as supervision and grading.
    • experience with the use of varied teaching methods and digital tools in teaching.

    Pedagogical competence:
    Documented practical pedagogical education and experience from teaching and supervision at university and university college level, cf. Regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act. Applicants who cannot document pedagogical competence at the time of employment are obliged to complete the university's course in pedagogy or equivalent within two years of employment.

    Personal qualities:

    • You work well in teams, have good communication skills and contribute to a positive working environment.
    • You show enthusiasm for teaching and supervising students, and have the ability to adapt teaching to their needs and level.
    • You actively participate in the department's activities and engage professionally and socially to strengthen the community.
    • You organize teaching and work tasks well, and take the initiative to improve teaching methods and professional development.

The assessment of which candidate is best qualified is based on an overall assessment of education, experience and personal suitability and other qualification requirements as formulated in the advertisement, in addition to motivation for the position.

    The position and duties must be performed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for government employees, including the Act on Control of Exports of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology, etc. Candidates who, after assessment of the application and attachments, come into conflict with the criteria in the latter Act, may not take up the position. Necessary approvals must be maintained throughout the employment relationship.
