About the position

The Faculty of Applied Ecology, Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology is expanding its capacity in forestry education. We want the forestry education at Evenstad to be closely linked to the forest industry and practice, and to be the best in Norway at this. As part of the forestry community at Evenstad, you will play a central role in this. The forestry community at Evenstad is growing. We have recently increased the number of employees, and now want to recruit you to a dynamic and active professional environment.

The position will be located at Evenstad, at the heart of forestry in Norway. We collaborate with several players in the forest industry, as well as national and international partners in research and education. Our bachelor's candidates are in demand in the forestry industry for their good knowledge and skills in applied forestry.


Responsibilities and duties

  • Teach the faculty's forestry courses
  • Teach other courses in the faculty according to competence

  • Contributing to the development of forestry courses
  • Participating in research projects according to competence
  • Outreach-oriented dissemination and maintaining contact with the forest industry and society in general

Other tasks may be added to the position as needed.


Qualifications

Formal qualifications:

  • You must qualify for the position of associate professor/university lecturer/university teacher in forestry in accordance with the requirements stated in regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act.
  • Emphasis is placed on knowledge of and experience with teaching, assessment and supervision.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian/Scandinavian and preferably English.
  • Satisfactory digital skills to carry out student-related work and current research and development work.

Experience competence:

  • Practical experience from forest management
  • Networks in the forest industry that can be actively used in teaching
  • Like to teach, and preferably have teaching experience
  • In-depth knowledge of boreal forests and Nordic forestry

Pedagogical competence:
Documented practical pedagogical education and experience from teaching and supervision at university and university college level, cf. Regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act. . Applicants who are unable to document pedagogical competence at the time of appointment are obliged to complete the university's course in pedagogy or equivalent within two years of appointment.

Personal qualities:

  • Passionate about forestry as a subject area and able to communicate this
  • Self-motivated, enterprising and with good collaboration skills
  • Has a commitment to the students' learning environment and well-being
  • Wants to develop forestry at Evenstad in collaboration with colleagues

The assessment of which candidate is best qualified is based on an overall assessment of education, experience and personal suitability and other qualification requirements as formulated in the advertisement, in addition to motivation for the position.

If there is no applicant who satisfies the competence requirements for permanent employment, a temporary appointment may be made for up to one year in a lower position, cf. Act relating to universities and university colleges § 7-3.

The position and duties must be carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for government employees, including the Act on the Control of Exports of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology, etc. Candidates who, after assessment of the application and attachments, come into conflict with the criteria in the latter Act, may not take up the position. Necessary approvals must be maintained throughout the employment relationship.
