Then this could be the position for you.


Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences - Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences is looking for an ambitious and inspiring head of department. The faculty has over 7,000 students and around 300 employees, with campuses in Lillehammer and Rena, in addition to educational offerings at the University College Center in Kongsvinger. Our ambition is to be a driving force in the development of knowledge and society - locally, nationally and internationally - through education, research, dissemination and innovation of high academic quality.


The Department of Organization, Leadership and Management currently consists of approximately 70 academic FTEs. The department offers year-long studies, bachelor's studies and master's studies in areas such as emergency preparedness and crisis management, management and digitization, organization and management, sport management and innovation, as well as continuing education in health management and process management. The department has a high and broad research activity within the subject areas.


The department is represented at the campuses Rena and Lillehammer and travel between the campuses must be expected. The main workplace can be Rena or Lillehammer.


The head of department has overall responsibility for the department and reports to the dean. As head of department, you are part of the faculty's management team and, as part of the faculty's management, are responsible for the faculty's activities and development. The faculty is in the process of evaluating the faculty structure and there may therefore be changes in the current organization.


The head of department position is a four-year fixed-term position with the possibility of re-employment up to two times (a total of up to 12 years). The position is 100%. Start date by agreement.


Responsibilities and duties

As Head of Department, you will have overall responsibility for the department's strategic and operational activities. Among your most important areas of responsibility are:

  • responsibility for the department's academic activities in education, research and development (R&D),
    as well as externally funded activities.
  • effective financial and resource management in accordance with established frameworks, objectives
    and strategic guidelines.
  • personnel responsibility, including employee development and organization of the department.
  • contribute to strengthening study quality and ensuring student participation at department level.
  • contribute to INN's work on gender equality, diversity and a good learning and working environment.
  • strengthen the faculty's strategic initiatives in education, research,
    skills development and sustainable growth in close collaboration with the faculty's management team.

The position involves close collaboration with the dean's office, the management team and the administration. Other tasks may be added as needed.


Qualifications

You must have:

  • academic qualifications at first position level, primarily within one of the department's subject areas, in accordance with the Regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act. The requirement for first-level qualifications may be waived for candidates with particularly relevant management experience. The minimum requirement is a master's degree or equivalent.
  • good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, and English.


It is desirable with:

  • leadership experience from knowledge organizations, and from the management of education and/or research activities
  • experience with personnel management, change management and financial management in the public sector.
  • insight into national and international development trends in higher education and R&D work.
  • insight into the development and use of digital tools in public administration, education and research

  • ability to exercise strategic and operational leadership.
  • good organizational and business understanding
  • motivating, inclusive and result-oriented leadership style.
  • good relational skills and ability to build networks and collaborative relationships.

The position requires great work capacity, good collaboration skills and the ability to drive development processes and change work.

The assessment of which candidate is best qualified will be a comprehensive assessment of education, experience and personal suitability, in addition to motivation and other qualification requirements as formulated in the text of the advertisement.

The position and associated tasks must be carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for government employees, including the Act on Control of Exports of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology, etc. Candidates who, after assessment of the application and attachments, conflict with the criteria in the latter act, will not be able to take up the position at the University of Inland Norway. Necessary approvals must be maintained throughout the employment relationship.
