Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences is looking for a committed and articulate rector to lead the college's overall operations over the next few years in the transition from college to university. On September 12, NOKUT's board approved the college's application for accreditation as a university. The Vice-Chancellor is the college's CEO and responsible for the further strategic development of the college.
As Rector, you are expected to contribute to the further development of our education and research activities, strengthening the university college's attractiveness and our role as a social actor. Interdisciplinary collaboration, an increased share of external funding, increased internationalization and continuous development of the academic and administrative activities will be central. You are expected to be a driving force in the development of a well-functioning employee and student democracy.
The Vice-Chancellor is the university college's supreme leader and has overall responsibility for the university college's day-to-day management in all areas where authority does not lie with the Board or with others by virtue of law or delegation. This means that the rector must, among other things:
The rector must have a high level of academic expertise at a minimum of first position level. Solid managerial experience from knowledge-intensive businesses and experience with business management and organizational development are required. Experience from management in distributed operations and international experience will be a strength. Relevant management education and experience with education and research management will be an advantage. We expect the rector to have good organizational understanding and in-depth knowledge of the university and university college sector's core tasks and social mission.
We are looking for a results-oriented and decisive leader with a motivating, listening and inclusive leadership style. You promote a
safe and diverse organizational culture, have relational skills and develop good leaders in your teams. You have strategic capacity and excellent communication skills both externally and internally.
Applicants must be fluent in written and spoken Norwegian or another Scandinavian language and have good English skills.
The rector is appointed on a fixed-term basis for a period of four years from 01.05.2025. The office is located in both Lillehammer and Elverum. Travel must be expected in the position.
