About the position

Are you interested in the place of pedagogy in society and like to communicate and meet students? At the Faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy, Department of Education in Lillehammer, from 01.08.2026, 1 temporary position in 100% position from 01.08.26 to 31.08.27 and 1 temporary position in 50% position from 01.08.26 to 31.08.27 as senior lecturer in pedagogy / special education.

In particular, we are looking for people with the interest and ability to contribute to the development of the department's study portfolio in the areas of special education, guidance pedagogy, media pedagogy, education and philosophy of science

The Department of Education currently has approx. 31 full-time equivalents with professional staff. The employees cover a number of subject areas that are oriented towards educational knowledge such as educational history, educational sociology, educational philosophy, educational policy development, educational psychology, media pedagogy, special education, counseling and guidance, as well as educational management.

The department has a wide-ranging study portfolio in pedagogy and special education with annual studies, bachelor's degree programs and master's degree programs in addition to further education.

The academic environment is characterized by high research activity and has a good academic community with great commitment to quality, and where you are expected to contribute to the development of a good working and learning environment. The department is located in Lillehammer and the positions will have a daily workplace at the campus in Lillehammer.


Responsibilities and duties

  • Teaching, supervision and assessment tasks related to the year program, the bachelor's programs in pedagogy and master's in pedagogy.
  • Topic responsibility in the educational programs
  • Performance of academic-administrative tasks
  • Externally funded assignments
  • Active participation in the development of the department's and the faculty's study profile
  • Development work

Other tasks can be added to the position as needed.


Qualifications

Formal competence:

  • You must qualify for the position of Senior Lecturer in Education in accordance with the requirements set out in the Regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act.
  • Education at master's degree level in pedagogy, special education, educational science or other master's degree relevant to the department's subject areas.
  • Emphasis is placed on knowledge of and experience in using student-active forms of learning and assessment in relevant subject areas.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian/Scandinavian and English.
  • Satisfactory digital competence related to student-related work and current research and development work.

Experience competence:

  • Teaching experience from the higher education sector is desirable and preferably experience with young people who are new to the student role.
  • Good knowledge of the university and university college sector
  • Experience from research or development work in education or other relevant social science disciplines
  • It is desirable that the person hired has the competence, interest and aptitude to contribute to developing the department's study portfolio, especially in two or more of the areas: education, philosophy of science, pedagogical use of technology in learning, special education theory and guidance pedagogy.

Pedagogical competence:
Documented practical pedagogical education and experience from teaching and supervision at university and college level, cf. Regulations to the Universities and Colleges Act.

The assessment of which candidate is best qualified is based on an overall assessment of education, experience and personal suitability and other qualification requirements as formulated in the advertisement, in addition to motivation for the position.

The position and duties must be carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for government employees, including the Act on Control of Exports of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology, etc. Candidates who, after assessment of the application and attachments, come into conflict with the criteria in the latter Act, may not take up the position. Necessary approvals must be maintained throughout the employment relationship.
