Gjøvik High School has a full-time (100%) permanent position available for a special education teacher, starting October 12, 2026.

We are looking for someone who

• has a background in special education and teaching qualifications at the elementary and middle school level in mathematics, English, and science
• have extensive experience providing special education to students with various accommodation needs
• have experience developing, evaluating, and implementing individual education plans (IOP)
• work well in a team with teachers and student counselors and collaborate effectively with students and parents
• have a positive outlook on people and strong caring and collaborative skills
• are eager to work with students with multiple disabilities
• has a high work capacity, is creative, flexible, and solution-oriented
• is development-oriented and has experience with school development work
• enjoys being a homeroom teacher

• Special education for students in a specialized unit
• Special education for students in regular classes/small groups
• The position may include responsibilities as a homeroom teacher

• Special education degree
• Teaching certification at the elementary school level in mathematics, English, and science
