Description
Hadeland Upper Secondary School has a need for up to 200% sign language interpreters from the start of the school year 2026. The interpreters will accompany and support a student throughout the school day, mainly by interpreting communication between the student, teachers and fellow students in lessons and other school activities.

About the position
- workplace is currently at Hadeland Upper Secondary School
- the person appointed to the position will be placed in a position code depending on education and experience, cf. satisfactory police certificate is a prerequisite for employment. This should not be attached to the application, but submitted as soon as possible after the offer of employment and before taking up the position
- the position follows the school year
Tasks
- sign language interpreting for a Norwegian-speaking student with hearing impairment throughout the school day
- contribute to good communication between students, teachers and fellow students
- collaborate closely with the student and subject teachers at the school so that the interpreter support is adapted to the student's needs on a daily basis
- cooperation with teachers, management, PPT, Statped on appropriate organization of teaching
Qualification requirements
- completed bachelor's degree in sign language and interpretation or equivalent previous education
- publicly approved interpreter for the deaf and deafblind
- other relevant experience from working with people with sign language interpretation needs may be taken into account.
- personal suitability will be emphasized
Desired qualifications
- formal education in interpreting with sign language
- good skills in Norwegian sign language and Norwegian written / oral
- knowledge of English sign language and interpreting in the English subject is an advantage
- good role understanding
- experience from interpreting in school or work with children and young people is desirable
- understanding of school life and cooperation in educational situations
