Description

As a result of increased investments in the county road network in Inland Norway, we are looking for 2 road safety advisors in the Traffic Safety Unit, to start as soon as possible.

About the unit

The unit is responsible for the operational road safety and traffic tasks in the Transport Department. This involves responsibility for ensuring that road safety measures in accordance with the Action Program for County Roads in Inland Norway are implemented, and we are road safety advisors in the department's other projects and tasks. We carry out road safety audits, inspections and risk assessments. The unit is also responsible for sign management and other traffic-related tasks such as traffic coordination, ATK establishment and processing applications for events on county roads. We organize internal traffic safety courses and courses for our operating contractors, as well as keeping management, politicians and others updated on statistics, incidents, new professional knowledge, etc. We also answer questions and inquiries about road safety from citizens, municipalities, the media and politicians. We collaborate extensively with the police, Trygg Trafikk, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, other county councils and municipalities, and we contribute to tasks for FTU (the county's road safety committee).

About the positions

  • 100% permanent

  • Place in position codes depending on the requirements for the position, education and experience, cf. legal and contractual requirements
  • The workplace is at our county offices in Hamar or Lillehammer. It is also possible to work at our locations in Gjøvik, Kongsvinger, Fagernes, Otta or Tynset.
  • Some travel around Innlandet county must be expected

Tasks

Innlandet County Council has decided to follow Nullvisjonen , which has been adopted by the Norwegian Parliament, and we follow the National Action Plan for Road Safety . We work systematically with road safety, based on research, experience and expertise that Norway, as a pioneering country in road safety work, has acquired over several years. In this way, we can get the most road safety out of our resources.

The tasks of the TS advisers are:

  • Mapping, professional assessments and preparation of minor road safety measures in accordance with packages of measures and funds allocated in Action program for county roads 2026-2029 - Innlandet county council
  • Traffic safety and traffic consulting in the Transport Department's various projects/measures, as well as in the department's case processing tasks in accordance with the Road Act and in area plan management in accordance with the Planning and Building Act.
  • Conducting traffic safety audits/inspections/assessments and risk assessments
  • It is desirable that our employees have different and complex skills and backgrounds, in order to complement each other in a traffic safety team. All employees in the unit will to a greater or lesser extent have to vary and adapt to the tasks that need to be solved at any given time, so the position also involves contributing to the implementation of the unit's other tasks

Qualifications

  • relevant education from university or college, preferably in road and traffic engineering subjects
  • lack of education in the subject area can be compensated with relevant work experience
  • it is desirable that the applicant is an approved TS auditor. If not, completion of NTNU's course in Traffic Safety Audits and Inspections can be expected
  • we want to strengthen our expertise in technological development and the use of artificial intelligence in traffic safety work, so expertise and interest in this is desirable
  • good oral and written communication skills
  • driving license class B
