The Department of Surgery, Hamar, is looking for a medical student with a license / doctor without LIS1 holiday substitution: 4-8 weeks in the period June to August 2026.

Final working weeks are agreed with the employer after employment. It is assumed that the temporary workers who are hired can work in the weeks when the department has the greatest need, typically from mid-July to mid-August, but please specify in the application if there are any special requests for time off, or work period.

The Department of Surgery in Hamar is a general surgical department that provides the opportunity for specialist training in general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, vascular surgery, urology, breast endocrine surgery and plastic surgery.
There are three shifts with LIS1 primary shift, sectioned gastro-surgical LIS back shift and general surgical LIS back shift as well as sectioned senior consultant shifts in gastro-surgery, vascular surgery and urology.

Tasks

The licensed medical student is a substitute for LIS1 and will have similar tasks that include post work under supervision, reception of list patients and primary duty in the emergency department. The primary shifts are divided into day and night shifts. They are supervised by LIS2/3 in the secondary shift with on-call duty at the hospital around the clock. A separate rota will be drawn up for summer substitutes.
