About the position

At Kriminalomsorgen Innlandet department of lower security Valdres, there are vacancies for 1078 officers/summer guards for 2026.

Join us to make a difference and work with something meaningful. We're looking for people who are good communicators and confident presenters.
Those who have considered prison officer training are especially encouraged to apply.
An officer must have the ability to maintain peace, order and security in the prison, ability to think in terms of security, setting boundaries and guiding the inmates.

The summer holiday period with us is weeks 26 - 33, therefore the temporary staff who are appointed must have the opportunity to work these weeks. The working hours are fully continuous rotation with three - split shifts.
Theoretical and practical training will be carried out by all temporary staff in weeks 24 and 25/26, this training is mandatory and those who are appointed must also be available during this period. The training is paid.

Tasks

  • assistance and guidance to inmates in relation to the execution of sentences
  • maintain peace, order and security in the prison
  • perform daily tasks in the department
  • assistance and guidance to inmates in relation to the execution of sentences

Modular training in security must be expected, including mandatory training in the use of physical force.


Education and experience

You must have

  • you must meet the requirements for admission to the Norwegian Correctional Service's college and education center KRUS which you can find here: www.krus.no/opptakskrav. Approved study competence from upper secondary school - general study competence (GENS). Applicants who are 25 years of age or older and who have the subjects Norwegian, English and social studies at a level equivalent to study competence can be assessed whether they are qualified on the basis of prior learning.

  • To apply, you must be at least 20 years old during the year.
  • good physical health
  • good knowledge and experience in the use of ICT systems or tools as well as good oral and written presentation skills
  • driving license class B

Invitation to applicants: In order to calculate the right salary in the event of a job offer, we are dependent on documentation from any previous employers after the age of 18. Certificates must include time period and scope in percentage of position or hours.
