Are you the one? A strategic leadership role for those who want to develop people, business and technology solutions in a growing region.
Jernbro is now looking for a business-driven and inclusive Head of Department for our Engineering business in Gothenburg. The department is facing an important development phase, and we are looking for a leader who wants to take overall responsibility for operations, business and people - and who sees the opportunity to build on an already strong position in the region.
About the department
Jernbro is Scandinavia's leading player in industrial maintenance and projects, with a turnover of SEK 2.7 billion. We work closely with our customers and community actors to create sustainable, reliable and efficient solutions that make a difference in both production and socially important infrastructure.
Engineering Gothenburg is a strategically important department with technical assignments and projects in automation, electricity and construction. We operate in the borderland between industry, civil engineering and real estate development and deliver everything from specialist efforts at customer sites to major technical projects.
The department consists of experienced and committed employees and is characterized by technical height, close customer dialogues and a culture where you take responsibility for both business and delivery. Here, Jernbro's security and brand are met with short decision paths and great freedom of action.
With a market in clear growth, the department is now entering a new phase and we are looking for a leader who wants to help shape the development going forward.
About the role
As Head of Department for Engineering Gothenburg, you have overall responsibility for the development of the business, results and ability to deliver value to our customers. You will manage around 25 employees in several engineering disciplines and work closely with a group manager to support the daily operational work. You will also be responsible for a small number of contracted consultants.
In this role, you will lead an experienced team, drive business development and help shape the direction of the department's continued development. This is a role for someone who thrives on the combination of hands-on leadership and strategic work, and who wants to create clear results together with both customers and employees.
The assignment is both strategic and operational. You develop teams, delivery capacity and business in parallel, are a natural part of the customer dialogue and work long-term to strengthen Jernbro's position with both existing and new customers. You report to the Regional Manager West and are part of the region's management team.
Your responsibilities in brief
- Lead, develop and inspire employees, team leaders and consultants and create a team that combines technical competence with business acumen
- Have full P/L responsibility (profit and budget responsibility) and drive long-term profitable and sustainable growth
- Build, develop and strengthen customer relationships and identify and drive new business opportunities with both existing and new customers
- Ensure quality in quotes, estimates, contracts and negotiations
- Optimize resource planning, utilization and delivery capacity to create efficiency and stable customer deliveries
- Work strategically with skills supply and recruitment to ensure the right technical skills over time
- Conduct employee and salary interviews and drive an inclusive, present and clear leadership
Who are you?
You are an experienced leader who thrives in the role where technology, business and people meet. You build trust, create structure and develop business through others. You have a clear business drive, but also the ability to listen, involve and build sustainable teams.
We would like you to have:
- Post-secondary engineering education
- At least 10 years of experience in technical services, project operations or industry-related assignments
- At least 5 years of documented managerial experience, preferably in a close management role
- Experience in customer relations, business development and commercial negotiations
- Good financial understanding and experience of performance and budget responsibility
- An established network within industry in the Gothenburg region
- Contacts or experience that strengthens skills supply and recruitment
- B driving license
As a person, you are confident, communicative and strategic. You have integrity, energy and an ability to create direction and commitment both in everyday life and in the long term.
What we offer
As Head of Department at Jernbro, you get a role with a large mandate, support and good opportunities to influence both business and organization. You will be an important part of a business with high quality in our technical deliveries, a developing market and a team that wants to move forward.
We offer:
- A clear mission and great freedom of action
- An experienced team with high technical skills
- The security of a well-established group
- Speed and flexibility in the local organization
- A growing market with great opportunities to generate results
Here you get the best of both worlds, the strength of a larger company and the closeness of a team where decisions are fast and your impact is clear.
