Jernbro is now looking for a planner/cost estimator for our operations in Finspång. Here, you’ll work with technical drawings, cost estimates, and customer inquiries, serving as the link between the customer and production. Your understanding of manufacturing and how the work is carried out in practice will be a key asset.

About the role

At our workshop in Finspång, we manufacture welded and machined components and steel structures based on our customers’ specific needs. We work with stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum, ensuring full traceability and documentation throughout the entire manufacturing process.

As a Production Planner/Estimator, you will receive and process customer inquiries. Using drawings and other technical documentation, you’ll familiarize yourself with what needs to be manufactured and calculate the job’s requirements in terms of materials, labor hours, and costs. Based on this, you’ll prepare cost estimates and develop documentation for bids.

Your responsibilities will include:

• reading and interpreting technical drawings
• calculating material, labor hours, and costs
• preparing cost estimates and bid documentation
• working in Excel and our Jeeves business system
• liaise with customers and suppliers
• work closely with production and monitor the jobs you’ve calculated

This is a varied role where you’ll combine technical understanding with problem-solving, numbers, and interaction with both customers and colleagues.

Who are we looking for?

We’d prefer that you already have experience in preparation, cost estimation, or similar tasks within the industrial sector. However, we’re also open to candidates with broad technical and practical experience from, for example, a workshop, manufacturing, mechanics, assembly, or maintenance—and who want to take the next step toward a technical role with a greater focus on costing and preparation.

The most important thing for us is that you are confident in reading and understanding technical drawings. You need to have a good understanding of materials, manufacturing, and what it takes to turn a drawing into a finished product.

You’re accustomed to working in Excel and feel comfortable using various digital systems. We use Jeeves, so experience with Jeeves or another business system is a plus. Experience with performing calculations on the job, preparing quotes, or working with cost estimates is also a plus.

For the right person with a technical background and industry experience, there is an opportunity to learn the aspects of preparation and cost estimation that you haven’t worked with before.

As a person, you are meticulous, organized, and solution-oriented. You enjoy delving into technical issues and understanding how things fit together. You thrive on collaboration and interacting with production teams, customers, and suppliers alike. You can express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
