JOB DUTIES
Kiruna City Library is in an exciting phase due to the city’s transformation, its designation as the European Capital of Culture 2029, and new facilities in the Aurora Cultural Center, located in the heart of the new city center. If you want to help shape Kiruna’s future library services, this is the job for you!
The City Library offers a wide range of programs aimed at children and young people during their free time. You’ll be part of a team consisting of a school librarian, a school library administrator, and a youth/school librarian. Your responsibilities will include overseeing children’s programs with a special focus on the collection and initiatives to promote reading during leisure time.
The position includes scheduled front-desk duties at the information desk, where you will assist and interact with visitors of all ages. Evening and weekend shifts are included according to the schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
You must hold a degree in library and information science. Previous experience with children’s and youth programs is a plus. You must have a strong knowledge of literature, particularly children’s and young adult literature, and be comfortable using digital tools. You must also be able to speak in front of both large and small groups and have a strong command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
As a person, you are creative, organized, and a good team player. You take the initiative and are able to work independently. To thrive in this role, you should enjoy working with children and young people and be able to independently plan and carry out activities for and with the target audience. You can organize your work, reflect on it, and follow up on activities to ensure that library users receive even better service. You enjoy new experiences and challenges.
A Class B driver’s license is required. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
