Är du den rätta? Kiruna has been named the European Capital of Culture for 2029. The government made the decision following a strong recommendation from the European expert jury, which selected Kiruna from among the Swedish candidates based on its application, “Movement—Below Ground. On Earth. In Space.”
This is a historic step for the municipality, the region, and the cultural scene throughout northern Sweden.
Kiruna lies at the intersection of extraction and regeneration, tradition and the future, local stories and cosmic horizons. Few projects in Europe offer this combination of cultural development, social transformation, and international collaboration.
We are now seeking a coordinator who wants to help build and develop the organization behind the European Capital of Culture 2029. The position does not involve supervisory duties or personnel responsibility.
Kiruna 2029 is a project organization within the Municipality of Kiruna that reports to its own committee. After the project period, the project organization will be dissolved.
