The Social Services Department’s mission is to provide security and support for people at different stages of life. We work to ensure that the municipality’s residents receive high-quality social care, and we have a special responsibility to address the needs of society’s most vulnerable groups. In everything we do, the service user is at the center, and we work continuously to develop and improve our operations. The Social Services Department has nearly 1,000 employees spread across five divisions, as well as a staff of quality and process managers in various areas of operation. Through close collaboration with other municipal departments, government agencies, and civil society, we create the conditions for good health, safety, and well-being for the municipality’s residents. Kiruna is undergoing a unique societal transformation that affects both the municipality and the operations of the Social Services Department. As Deputy Director, you will play a central role in developing one of the municipality’s largest and most socially significant operations. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As Deputy Director, you will work closely with the Director and be part of the department’s management team, where you will help translate political goals into tangible benefits for the municipality’s residents. The role involves working in a dynamic environment where development, collaboration, and innovative thinking are essential for meeting future needs. You will be responsible for parts of the administrative management’s organization, including operational, financial, human resources, and workplace safety responsibilities. The role also involves cross-departmental responsibilities and includes, among other things: • supporting and developing the department’s managers and operations in strategic development matters • coordinating the department’s strategic development efforts • contributing to the implementation of new legislation and national reforms Together with the administrative director, department heads, and other key personnel, you will work to develop the social services administration as a whole and create the best possible conditions for the safety, health, and well-being of the municipality’s residents. QUALIFICATIONS To succeed in this role, we expect you to have: • a relevant academic degree or other education and experience that the employer deems equivalent • several years of experience in leadership roles with responsibility for operations, finance, human resources, and the work environment • experience leading through other managers • strong ability to work strategically and drive development and change initiatives • strong ability to foster collaboration and build trusting relationships • analytical, strategic, and solution-oriented ability to lead operations and people through change It is advantageous if you have: • experience in leadership roles within a politically governed organization • experience in the areas of social services This position requires security clearance. Swedish citizenship and a passed security clearance are requirements for employment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Employment type: Permanent position.
