Are you the one?
For a vibrant Kiruna. One thing is certain: with us, you make a difference. “We are Kiruna,” we often say. We are the healthcare workers who hold Grandma’s hand and the teacher who helps little brother read his first words. We are the childcare provider who helps a child grow every day and the social worker who does whatever it takes to change lives. We’re the personal assistant who gives freedom and the librarian who brings literature to life. We’re the home care workers who drive to the villages in snowstorms and under the midnight sun to be there for others. We are hundreds of skills, thousands of people, and generations of experience that together provide security, care, inspiration, education, save lives, think innovatively, transform cities, stand up for one another, and look after people—with pride and compassion. From the mountains to the city. Today and tomorrow, for a vibrant Kiruna. There’s something special about that. Would you also like to work for life, people, and the future in the Municipality of Kiruna? Do you want to create value and make a real difference for what matters most? We look forward to hearing from you! 1 position(s). JOB DESCRIPTION Are you passionate about human rights issues and want to help create an inclusive municipality for everyone? As part of this effort, Kiruna Municipality is now seeking a Minority Language and Accessibility Coordinator. Kiruna Municipality is an administrative area for the three national minority languages: Finnish, Meänkieli, and Sami. Being an administrative area means, among other things, that the municipality has a responsibility to work to strengthen and raise awareness of local cultures, actively work toward the revitalization of these languages, and encourage the use of Finnish, Meänkieli, and Sami in public spaces. The Municipality of Kiruna is undergoing a historic urban transformation in which parts of the city center are being relocated and demolished. This creates significant opportunities to influence and develop a more inclusive and accessible environment for everyone. Minority Languages You will coordinate the municipality’s minority language efforts in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. You will convene consultation meetings with representatives of the national minorities and be responsible for meeting administration. The role also includes responsibility for the municipality’s reporting of state grants to the monitoring authorities. Accessibility In the role of accessibility coordinator, you will play a central role in driving and developing the municipality’s work on accessibility and disability issues. Among other things, you will administer and coordinate the municipal accessibility council, a body for consultation and collaboration with local organizations that engage people with disabilities. The role of Minority Language and Accessibility Coordinator involves independently managing and following up on matters in these areas, supporting municipal departments in their work on these issues, and staying informed by monitoring developments in these fields to help advance Kiruna Municipality’s efforts. The role of case officer involves independently preparing various types of decision-making documents for political review. On a day-to-day basis, this may involve drafting responses to consultations and statements, as well as answering questions from citizens. Assignments and areas of responsibility may vary over time. You will often have a deadline to meet. QUALIFICATIONS You must have at least a college degree in fields such as public administration, political science, or a related field, or experience that the employer deems suitable for the position, as well as experience working independently on administrative tasks. It is advantageous if you have worked and have experience in the field of national minorities, minority languages, or human rights. You must have a good command of Swedish and English, with a particular ability to express yourself in writing. You must be well-versed in database-driven administration and digital business systems. To thrive in the role of minority language and accessibility coordinator/administrator, you should be driven, organized, critical of social norms, and skilled at building relationships, as you will collaborate both internally and externally with many different target groups. This means you also need to be a strong communicator. Assignments may come on short notice, so you also need to be flexible and able to prioritize. We place great emphasis on personal fit. Employment type: Permanent position. Duration: Permanent; start date: To be agreed upon. To work with us, you must share Kiruna Municipality’s core values, where respect, responsibility, and collaboration are the guiding principles. We offer a pleasant work environment and stimulating tasks, and ensure that you, as an employee, enjoy a good work-life balance. We offer a variety of benefits, including free access to various fitness facilities up to 5,000 SEK per year, cabins in the mountains that you can rent, and the option to exchange part of your salary for time off. We strive for gender equality and view diversity as a strength; we welcome employees from diverse backgrounds and work to ensure our workplaces are accessible to everyone. Kiruna Municipality views full-time employment as a right and part-time employment as an opportunity. Knowledge of Finnish, Sami, and/or Meänkieli is a plus, as Kiruna Municipality is an administrative area for these languages. Kiruna Municipality applies individual and differentiated pay scales. If you advance in the recruitment process, you will be presented with a salary range applicable to you at the time of the interview.
