JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a school principal, you’re responsible for your school’s operations, with the students at the center. You’ll collaborate and drive development initiatives together with your staff and other principals within the administration. You’ll have overall responsibility for the results of your school and for the development of Kiruna Municipality. You’ll represent the employer and act in accordance with our core values: Respect, Responsibility, and Collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS
As a principal in Kiruna Municipality, you are a key figure in the school’s continued development and journey forward. There is a strong will and deep commitment here, but also a need for clear direction, decision-making, and confident leadership that dares to lead the way. You are responsible for leading the school’s educational work in accordance with applicable policy documents, the school’s vision, and its core values.
With a long-term and strategic approach, you create a shared focus and a culture characterized by trust, job satisfaction, and clear expectations. By being present in everyday life, visible to both students and staff, and active in the classrooms, you contribute to a safe and positive school environment where everyone knows where we’re headed and why.
Your role is also central to developing the school’s student well-being initiatives and systematic quality assurance efforts. Together with your colleagues, you create a common thread throughout the school day and strengthen collaboration and collegial learning. You create the conditions for educators to meet, share experiences, and develop their teaching together.
We are looking for someone who:
-Has a college degree and experience in educational leadership from a school or educational institution, preferably with experience in budget, personnel, and overall management.
-Have experience leading school development and driving change initiatives.
-Are a strong communicator who easily builds and maintains relationships.
-Recognize the value of networking, collaboration, and cooperation.

Employment Type: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent; Start Date: To be agreed upon; interviews may be conducted on an ongoing basis.
We use a fixed-term management contract in combination with a permanent basic employment contract with the municipality.
