Kiruna 2029 is looking for a driven and versatile Communications Manager who can take a holistic approach to the project's internal and external communications. The role is both strategic and operational and requires an on-site presence in Kiruna.
As Communications Manager, you will be a key person in the journey of Kiruna European Capital of Culture 2029, enhancing the visibility of the project and ensuring that communication is coordinated, clear and engaging.

JOB DESCRIPTION.
In this role you will work both strategically and operationally. You will be responsible for developing and activating the project's communication strategy in line with the bid-book, while planning, implementing and following up on concrete communication actions.
The work involves both internal and external communication, and you will move effortlessly between different audiences and channels.
You will actively participate in communication networks at different levels and contribute to strengthening the project's presence and relations, both in Sweden and internationally.
An important part of the assignment is to manage dialogue and collaboration with authorities, organizations and other partners.
You represent Kiruna's Capital of Culture organization in various contexts and are a clear ambassador for the project.
You also ensure that follow-up, evaluation and reporting are carried out according to the requirements and timeframes set by the international jury.
Together with the project manager, you are also responsible for budget, financing and resource management in the communication area, which means that you need to have an understanding of financial and municipal administrative processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for people with a post-secondary degree in media and communication, or other experience deemed equivalent. Experience in managing large or complex communication projects related to culture is an advantage.
You have a good knowledge of communication and media landscape, are used to working with digital channels and social media, and have experience in web publishing and basic graphic production.
You express yourself very well in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Additional language skills, in particular in Sámi, Meänkieli or Finnish, would be an advantage.
As a person, you are self-motivated, take initiative and build relationships easily. You are creative and solution-oriented, with a good ability to switch between strategic thinking and operational implementation. Experience from the public sector, working in northern Sweden or in the context of societal transformation is seen as a plus, as well as knowledge of Kiruna's application and bid-book. The position is located in Kiruna and work is mainly done on site. Travel may occur, and the role includes representing Kiruna municipality and the project in various public contexts.
Kiruna 2029 is a project organization within Kiruna municipality that answers to its own board.
You will be part of a growing organization where you work closely with the project manager, program manager and other project managers. Personal qualities and team dynamics will be important in the continued work of the organization. The role will evolve over time, and as the organization grows, it may involve work management and eventually staff responsibility. The work is periodically intense, which requires you to be able to handle a fast pace, prioritize and navigate complex communicative situations. This is a unique opportunity to help raise the profile of Kiruna in a European perspective.
