Are you the one?
For a vibrant Kiruna. One thing is certain: with us, you make a difference. “We are Kiruna,” we often say. We are the healthcare workers who hold Grandma’s hand and the teacher who helps little brother read his first words. We are the childcare provider who helps a child grow every day and the social worker who does whatever it takes to change lives. We’re the personal assistant who gives freedom and the librarian who brings literature to life. We’re the home care workers who drive to the villages in snowstorms and under the midnight sun to be there for others. We are hundreds of skills, thousands of people, and generations of experience that together provide security, care, inspiration, education, save lives, think innovatively, transform cities, stand up for one another, and look after people—with pride and compassion. From the mountains to the city. Today and tomorrow, for a vibrant Kiruna. There’s something beautiful about that. Would you also like to work for life, people, and the future in the Municipality of Kiruna? Do you want to create value and make a real difference for what matters most? 1 position(s). JOB DUTIES As a Food Inspector, you will handle administrative tasks and conduct inspections in the food sector. Together with your colleagues, you will plan and carry out inspections and audits at food facilities throughout the municipality.  You will also process incoming registrations, investigate complaints and suspected cases of food poisoning, and provide advice and information to businesses. The job involves frequent contact with businesses, citizens, and the media—stakeholders you must be able to engage with professionally. We are a relatively small environmental office, which means that as an inspector, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a wide range of regulatory areas, and we’ll support one another as needed. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who is a trained environmental and health protection inspector, a nutritionist, or has other education that the employer deems equivalent and suitable. We would prefer that you have experience working as a food inspector or in the food industry. To thrive in this role, you need strong organizational skills, a service-oriented mindset, and excellent communication skills.  You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team and approach your tasks with a flexible mindset. Previous experience working within a political organization—particularly in local government administration—is a plus. Experience working with government agencies is also a plus. This role requires that you express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. A Class B driver’s license is required. Employment type: Fixed-term employment. Duration: 6 months or longer; start date: December 1, 2026. Start date to be agreed upon; a probationary period may apply. End date: November 30, 2027. To work with us, you must share Kiruna Municipality’s core values, where respect, responsibility, and collaboration are the guiding principles. We offer a pleasant work environment and stimulating tasks, and we ensure that you, as an employee, have a good work-life balance. We offer a variety of benefits, including free access to various fitness centers up to 5,000 SEK per year, cabins in the mountains that you can rent, and the option to exchange part of your salary for time off. We strive for gender equality and view diversity as a strength; we welcome employees from diverse backgrounds and work to ensure our workplaces are accessible to everyone. Kiruna Municipality views full-time employment as a right and part-time employment as an opportunity. Knowledge of Finnish, Sami, and/or Meänkieli is a plus, as Kiruna Municipality is an administrative area for these languages. Kiruna Municipality has engaged an external recruitment agency for this position and therefore requests that advertising sales representatives or other providers of recruitment services refrain from contacting us.
