We are looking for a passionate Dam Engineer to be part of the transformation of our industry towards a sustainable future where you will, among other things, get the chance to take the lead in the planning and implementation of our new dam in Malmberget.

Your role

This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of Europe's leading iron ore mine and to be involved in the construction of a new tailings dam, which is planned to start in 2025. You will develop your skills and experience in one of the most exciting and technically advanced dam projects in the mining industry today.

In the role, you will have close cooperation and good support from committed operations managers, dam technical experts and appointed dam constructors to ensure the safety and efficiency of our facilities.

As a dam engineer, you will also:

  • Responsible for ensuring that our mine dam facility is designed, built and operated in strict accordance with our high technical standards, applicable laws and regulations, as well as international GruvRIDAS standards.

  • Lead communication between the dam safety organization, consultants and contractors to ensure transparent and effective collaboration.

  • Participate in permit checks, daily operational inspections, quarterly inspections, in-depth safety evaluations of the dam facility, Tailings Advisory Board (independent review panel) and other audit activities.

  • If necessary, you will also be involved in developing and implementing security procedures and monitoring strategies for the facility.

You have this with you

We are looking for someone who is driven and has strong collaborative skills. You are naturally curious and have strong problem-solving skills, with a genuine interest in creating and maintaining a sustainable mining environment.

  • Engineering degree: You have a relevant engineering degree, such as road and water engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydrology, natural resource engineering, mechanical engineering, construction engineering or similar.

  • Meritorious experience and knowledge: It is advantageous if you have previous work experience in dam technology and safety, as well as experience in environmental legislation, waste management and geology. Should you be at the beginning of your career and have not had time to gain all this experience, we still encourage you to apply. You will receive coaching and training to succeed in this role, provided you have the right motivation.
