The Kiruna mine is one of the world's largest and most high-tech underground iron ore mines. The mine faces exciting new challenges as we mine at greater depths. Therefore, a completely new section within "Rock Engineering" has been created to identify risks and enable safe and efficient mining operations through advanced rock mechanical expertise and holistic mine planning. We are now looking for a committed group manager for the operational part within rock safety and seismic.

Your role

As group manager, you play an important role in ensuring personal, plant and production safety for the Kiruna mine from a rock mechanics and seismic perspective. Your team currently consists of twelve colleagues with a diversity of experience and different international backgrounds. The team will be expanded further and you will participate in the build-up. Your responsibilities include:

  • Continuous monitoring and analysis of the mine

  • Opening and closing areas

  • Recommendations regarding rock reinforcement

  • Mine layout/ sequence to minimize seismicity

  • Implementation and follow-up of security measures

  • Information and education about rock mechanics and seismicity

  • Lead and develop your team

  • Contribute to section-wide work such as work environment, budget and business planning

The work area includes both underground and above ground, and the work takes place in close collaboration with the mine's planning and production departments. As group manager, you will be an important part of our management team.

Your qualifications

To succeed in the role, we are looking for you who:

  • Is a trained professional or civil engineer with a focus on rock mechanics, mining technology or rock construction technology

  • Has experience from mining and preferably from managerial positions in the technology area

  • Is driven and communicative with good cooperation skills

  • Enjoys working in a varied environment and taking responsibility for driving the work forward

  • Has a structured work style and is flexible enough to handle challenges

  • Proficient in spoken and written English

  • Holds a B license
