LKAB's open-pit mines are located in Svappavaara, four miles southeast of Kiruna. In these open pits, we loosen iron ore and waste rock by drilling and blasting, and then load, crush and sow the ore into a raw material for pellet production. The foundation for stable production is laid with the maintenance work that we carry out during the year's various maintenance stops.
Your main duties are to plan and prepare maintenance work for internal and external resources. You will be part of a team of engineers and technicians who work towards the same common goal but in different areas of responsibility. You will have close cooperation with the work management that performs activities during our maintenance stops. This service has an important role in the planning, execution and follow-up of the maintenance stop which takes place in bicycles throughout the year. Good planning and preparation ensures that the maintenance stop can be carried out with high quality and according to schedule.

We are leading the transformation of our industry towards a sustainable future. Our co-workers, a new world standard for mining, sponge iron and critical minerals will be key as we make our production carbon-free by 2045.
Global greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced significantly and within a short period of time. Tackling the climate problem will require a transformation – a significant challenge as global energy consumption is heavily linked to fossil fuels. It requires systemic changes that will take time and require a high degree of collaboration between industry and policy makers.
Based on our vision and mission, the strategy for LKAB charts the way forward towards zero carbon dioxide emissions from our own processes and products by 2045. It also secures our long-term competitiveness.
