Job Posting End Date / last application date:

The Kiruna mine is one of the world's largest and most high-tech underground iron ore mines. The mine faces exciting new challenges as we mine at greater depths. Therefore, a completely new section within "Rock Engineering" has been created to identify risks and enable safe and efficient mining operations through advanced rock mechanical expertise and holistic mine planning. We are now looking for a technology-interested rock technician with a focus on seismic.

The most important job of the future

We want to lead the transformation of our industry towards a sustainable future. And in the same way that we want to change the world, we want to develop everyone who is with us on the journey, personally and professionally. Do you want to help shape the future of the world's mining and mineral industry?

Your role

As a rock technician, you will have a central and important operational role where your main mission is to ensure personal, plant and production safety for the Kiruna mine, with a focus on rock mechanics and seismic. With us, you are part of a supportive work group that is responsible for the mine's seismic system, rock safety and has close cooperation with its production departments.

Your duties include, among other things:

  • Daily monitoring of the seismic activity

  • Operational issues around seismicity and rock mechanics

  • Compilation of dispatches and messages linked to the mine's seismic events

You also assist others in the group with special work out in the field and work flexibly to create good coverage and availability.

Your qualifications

Do you feel at home in the mine and see yourself as a self-starter, interested in technology, communicative and cooperative? Do you also have a good sense of service and want to work with safety issues from a rock mechanics perspective? If this sounds exciting to you, you may be just what we're looking for!

  • You have a passed degree at least upper secondary school level, but we would like you to have a vocational or university education in a relevant field.

  • We are open to anyone who is a recent graduate without experience, however experience of working underground is meritorious but not a requirement

  • We see that you have a command of spoken and written Swedish. You should also be able to express yourself in English because we have many international contacts and employees

  • Analytical ability is something we place importance on

  • B driving license is a requirement

This is what you get

  • Reward program

  • Free training at LKAB's own gym as well as at our partners' locations in Norrbotten

  • Health care allowance and study support as well as access to art association, leisure association, mountain cabins and family activities

  • Enhanced parental allowance of up to 90 percent of your regular salary for up to six months (after employment for one year)

  • Help and support in case of illness or in matters of work environment, health, wellness and rehabilitation

  • Reimbursement for dental care and protective and terminal glasses

  • Possibility to apply for scholarships during studies for both you and your children

  • Possibility to join our pension and insurance program with favorable prices
