Drive the development of world-leading process control systems for the iron ore industry. We are looking for an experienced automation engineer to join our team!

The most important job of the future

We want to lead the transformation of our industry towards a sustainable future. And in the same way that we want to change the world, we want to develop everyone who is with us on the journey, personally and professionally. Do you want to help shape the future of the world's mining and mineral industry?

Your role

As a Senior Automation Engineer with us, you will be part of a committed team of eight people who work with maintenance, service and development of our advanced process control systems and automation solutions. These systems extend over the entire production chain in Malmberget, from the mine to the railway yard. We mainly use ABB systems, and you will play a central role in optimizing, changing and developing new process sections.

You will participate in different types of projects, from quick short-term assignments to larger, comprehensive projects involving multiple areas of technology. The work includes both application programming and a deep understanding of hardware and networking. We are looking for someone who can familiarize himself with our processes and who can create solutions that work in our large-scale production environment.

Emergency services are included in the service for one week every two months, which means that you sometimes need to deal with urgent problems. We offer some opportunity for home work, but presence on site is an important part of the service. We work in a supportive environment where all colleagues help each other, which creates a safe and collaborative workplace. You get the opportunity to develop and learn new things by working together with both senior and more junior colleagues in a dynamic and varied work environment.

You have this with you

We are looking for a driven and committed automation engineer who has solid experience in automation. You have a technical education at university level and extensive experience in electricity, control and regulation technology and industrial automation. Experience with DCS, PLC and HMI systems is necessary, and knowledge in industrial network communication and process industry is meritorious.

You are analytical and cooperative, with the ability to support your colleagues and find solutions to complex problems. Experience of working in projects, both as a participant and informal project manager, is an advantage. Driving license class B is a requirement and we see that you have a command of spoken and written English.

This is what you get

  • Reward program

  • Free training at LKAB's own gym as well as at our partners' locations in Norrbotten

  • Health care allowance and study support as well as access to art association, leisure association, mountain cabins and family activities

  • Enhanced parental allowance of up to 90 percent of your regular salary for up to six months (after employment for one year)

  • Help and support in case of illness or in matters of work environment, health, wellness and rehabilitation

  • Reimbursement for dental care and protective and terminal glasses

  • Possibility to apply for scholarships during studies for both you and your children

  • Possibility to join our pension and insurance program with favorable rates

Other information

  • Application deadline: 31 July 2024, but selection and interviews can take place continuously before the application deadline

  • Start date: by agreement

  • Form of employment: permanent employee

  • Location: Malmberget, Gällivare municipality

About the employer
Global greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced significantly and within a short period of time. Tackling the climate problem will require a transformation – a significant challenge as global energy consumption is heavily linked to fossil fuels. It requires systemic changes that will take time and require a high degree of collaboration between industry and policy makers.
