If you are a positive, patient, and self-assured person, there are opportunities for you to work as a personal assistant (BPA).
We currently have two open positions for BPAs. The positions can be combined. In Løten municipality, we have a full-time work culture. This means that when positions become vacant, the possibility of increasing the position will be considered.

  • 28.17% with a child in the afternoon and evening.
  • 29.33% with an adult during the day.

User-directed personal assistant (BPA) is an alternative way of organizing health and care services. This includes practical and personal assistance, training, and support contact. The goal of BPA is to ensure that people with disabilities have the opportunity to live independently and lead an active and meaningful life in community with others. The user is their own supervisor, and Løten Municipality is the employer. As a BPA, you will help make daily life predictable and safe, and assist
the user in adjusting activities according to their daily condition and needs.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities will differ between the two positions.
Overall, they will involve:

  • Daily tasks inside and outside the home
  • Assisting and supporting the user with activities, exercise, and appointments outside the home
  • Assistance with personal hygiene, health, mobility, and mealtime support
  • Contributing to the user’s well-being and quality of life, and recognizing the user’s strengths
  • Consulting with the user. Listen to and respect the user’s opinion
  • Collaborate with parents/relatives and other services
  • Follow up on individual goals and action plans
  • Follow procedures and decisions in accordance with Chapter 9 of the Health and Care Services Act
  • Prevent the use of coercion and force
  • Document in accordance with legislation and procedures
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues and new employees
  • Participate in quality and improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to ensuring smooth operations and effective solutions

Qualifications

  • No formal education required
  • Relevant skills and experience, preferably as a personal assistant
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills in Norwegian, as well as good ICT skills
  • Class B driver’s license with manual transmission
  • Must enjoy outdoor activities

  • Good at building relationships and collaborating well with colleagues, clients, and their families
  • Independent with the ability to work systematically and in a structured manner
  • Solution-oriented with the ability to take responsibility
  • Good communication skills are important, and you communicate clearly and effectively
  • Be flexible and able to cover shifts during sick leave and vacation
  • Personal suitability and motivation for the position will be emphasized
