Løten Municipality has received project funding to establish an interdisciplinary school environment team. The team will be part of our support services within the Child and Youth Services department and will contribute targeted efforts in matters related to the school environment, well-being, and mental health of children and young people. You will play a key role in following up with schools facing challenges, assisting with complex cases, and helping to develop effective structures and measures to improve students’ daily lives.

Job Responsibilities

As a member of the School Environment Team, you will:

  • Create safe and inclusive environments by building relationships characterized by trust, respect, and a sense of belonging, so that all students feel seen and heard
  • Support students’ social development and coping skills through conversations, activities, and guidance in conflict resolution, relationship building, and strengthening self-esteem
  • Follow up with individual students and parents in cases where the school environment is challenging, and propose measures based on observation and assessment
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive practices that promote mental health and well-being in the school environment
  • Serve as a bridge between young people, their homes, the school, and after-school programs, and contribute to comprehensive follow-up and support tailored to each student’s needs
  • Collaborate with school administration and school staff on challenging student environment issues
  • Contribute to case management in accordance with Sections 12-2 and 12-3 of the Education Act
  • Collaborate closely with school nurses, child welfare services, youth outreach workers, and recreational services to ensure comprehensive support
  • Plan and organize meaningful recreational activities for young people that provide positive experiences, a sense of accomplishment, and opportunities to build social networks

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental therapy, psychology, or another social work field—preferably with additional training in school environment, counseling, or mental health
  • Experience working with children and youth, particularly using environmental therapy methods
  • Thorough knowledge of the Education Act, particularly Chapter 12 on the school environment
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and systematic development work
  • You must submit a police background check before starting the position and sign a confidentiality agreement and a tuberculosis status form upon hiring.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who:

  • Have the ability to build trust and establish good relationships with students, parents, other professionals, and educators in the municipality
  • Are solution-oriented, organized, and confident in challenging situations
  • Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Can provide guidance to professional communities within and associated with schools
  • Thrives working both independently and as part of a team
  • We place great emphasis on your motivation and personal suitability for the position

We emphasize loyalty to Løten Municipality’s ethical guidelines and values: Respect, responsibility, and courage.

We offer

  • A meaningful job where you make a real difference for children and young people
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration and support from child and youth services
